Ouch!
Overheard this afternoon in M&S:
Elegant Mum: What do you think of this?
Sulky adult daughter: ‘Sokay.
Elegant Mum: They’ve got some lovely stuff in here, don’t you think?
Sulky adult daughter: Well yeah, for old people like you, but not if you’re young!
I don’t think I would have found this quite so awful if I didn’t remember having the exact same conversation with my own Mum when I was young and obnoxious.
Funny though.

Well I, for one, take exception to this! Their avocado butties are excellent
It does remind me of (way back) when I was a horrid teen and my Dad was telling me of the horrible things his family had eaten when he was a nipper (most of it derived from various areas of the humble pig). I listened with little hidden disgust before sniffing, in a manner I would find it hard not to slap these days, “Well, how very Northern.”
What a horrible child…

I can’t take exception – I obviously am old! Besides, an offended expression just makes the wrinkles on my face look even deeper.
