The best laid plans
Work started last week on the GBBP. This is good news. If you’re as excited about this as we are (which, let’s face it, is unlikely), you can see daily photos of the progress here.
Since the work started our boiler has packed up. That’s our very old, inefficient, ‘on its last legs so let’s get it replaced when we do the bathroom’ boiler. I can’t work out whether this is really, really bad timing (the new boiler is due to be fitted in another two weeks) or genius. But then, that might depend on how the shower responds. That’s our very old, temperamental, often-runs-cold shower that does still work, but which was playing up today.
Change can be difficult for all of us, but it’s a strange world when your appliances start reacting badly to imminent retirement.

Good luck with it all, you two. After having half the house ripped off my only advice is to keep a good sense of humour and take time out away from the madness.
p.s. Keep any bricks – they make great paths!
p.p.s. All bath should have a cat under them to keep bums warm – it should be an EU regulation

Today a plumber saved my life. No, really. The boiler (the old one) is back in action, provided we speak nicely to it and don’t work it too hard.
And the electric blanket is back on the bed.
