A bean’s a bean, but a pea…

Last year I had hoped to break my duck, as it were, and finally grow myself some peas. Unfortunately, excessive rain combined with allotment indolence, leading to complete allotment abandonment scuppered those dreams. This year I am better prepared and more hopeful. My pea seedlings are planted out and more seeds are sown.
My [...]

Taking it easy

This weekend saw some gorgeous sunshine with some showers and thunderstorms thrown in for good measure. The sun was plentiful enough to tempt me outside for some pottering around the garden doing a whole host of things that have been scratching at my ankles, begging for attention.

The sun was warm enough to make for [...]

The quick brown fox

We have had heavy showers here today. Led Zep. One minute the sun has been shining and the next the rain has come down so hard it’s been like looking through the bars of a cage. Not good weather for digging.
Instead I decided to use the bathroom as a hide and sit with [...]

With blinking eyes and blistered fingertips

I’ve been “task mesmerised” for the past few weeks, working on a huge piece of written work for a big deadline. There’s been some time for gardening, but no space in my head for thinking about blogging. When not working I’ve really not fancied sitting in front of the computer a moment longer. I’ve been [...]

This much I know

Tulips are so pretty they almost make the weeds invisible.

Idiot chitting

Ahem.
Let me preface this post by saying that I have been rather distracted by work over the last couple of months so my potager concentration has not been what it might have been. Honestly.
Plus I feel utterly ashamed and stupid. So be gentle with me, OK?
So, I finally got around to planting out [...]
