Breathing easy

It’s been longer than I intended since I last posted – for which I apologise.  My stressful week went fine but was followed by further busy-ness that has left little time for inspiration of the green-fingered kind.

new alpine and stones

This weekend is Owen’s birthday (more on that tomorrow) so our plans have been to do nothing much today except relax.  The weather forecast was for high winds (check) and rain (not so far…), but our little spot is pretty sheltered and although the nearby trees have been blowing about, the sunshine has been warming our faces and turning the garden into a little idyll.

strawberry flowers

The potager is full of promise right now.  The strawberry plants seem unable to stop producing flowers.  This is their third year so I expect a good show for their swansong.  All our different pea and bean plants are romping away. Even my parsnips have germinated.  It’s all very promising.

new chive

The only disappointment has been my leeks which seem to have disappeared into the lovely deep holes I dibbed for them.  With a dibber.  Of course.   I put in some replacement plants today and hope that these are more tenacious.

There’s lots more to say about irrigation systems and tomato plants as well as courgette seedlings and asparagus ferns but really, all I want to do is relax and tell you that it’s lovely out there.  What more do you need to know?
