First of the month

July was a great month in the garden here at Soup Towers. We had the first proper summery weather and have really been reaping rewards from our potager.

You can see in the bottom right of this picture that we have had most of our potato crop for the year – and very delicious they were too. I intend to write more soon about the merits of the different varieties. You can probably also see that our climbing beans are now really going for it. We have recently started eating beans with most meals, but they’re only just getting going. In another couple of weeks we’ll be on almost constant picking and freezing duty, I reckon.

From this end of the garden you can see how our courgette plants are doing. We are not yet at glut stage but will be quite soon. For once, I am looking forward to this as I have been given a fab book for my birthday that I intend to make very good use of. More of that another time.

As before, clicking on a picture will take you to an anotated version on Flickr. Enjoy.
